The drive drum is the main component that is usually driven by the motor in conveyor belt systems and provides the movement of the belt. This drum takes the rotational power of the motor and provides movement to the conveyor belt through friction. Drive drums, which are used in many sectors such as mining, construction, quarries, and industrial production, are considered the heart of the conveyor system.

Working Principle of Drive Drum
The drive drum is located at the beginning of the conveyor system and is rotated by the engine. The surface of the drum is usually coated to provide high friction. In this way, the rotational movement of the drum is transferred to the conveyor belt and the belt moves to carry the loads. The diameter of the drum and the motor power are important factors that determine the carrying capacity and speed of the system.

Features of Drive Drum
High Friction: Drive drums have a high friction surface to move the conveyor belt without slipping. This is usually achieved with rubber coating.
Heavy Load Carrying Capacity: These drums are generally strong and durable enough to carry large loads.
Tension Adjustment: The drive drum is also used to adjust the tension of the belt in the conveyor belt system. Correct tension ensures efficient and safe operation of the system.

Difference Between Drive Drum and Tail Drum
The drive drum is the active part that moves the conveyor belt. It is powered by a motor and moves the belt forward. The tail drum is usually located at the end of the system or on the return side and is free-wheeling. The tail drum is a passive component that drives the belt and, unlike the drive drum, does not directly participate in power transmission.

Usage Areas of Drive Drum
Mining: Used to transport materials in large mines.
Quarries: For moving heavy stones and other building materials.
Industrial Production: Enables the transportation of products on assembly lines in factories.
Logistics: Used in packaging and distribution centers to move materials from one place to another.

Drive pulleys play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of conveyor systems. Choosing the right drive pulley is critical to the performance and durability of the system.
